Cogeneration plant for paper drying

Cartiera Pasquini in Bagni di Lucca has installed an oil-free turbine cogeneration plant with high efficiency and zero emissions with the addition of an aeraulic system that exploits the hot exhaust air from the turbines that is fed back into the drying system, thus eliminating the consumption of fuel for heating the process air.

Combining centuries-old tradition with cutting-edge technology, in compliance with the most stringent environmental regulations, a cogeneration plant has been set up with 3 Capstone C65 iCHP Grid Connect turbines, natural gas, with direct recovery of the fumes.

In this way, it is possible not only to meet costs and gain energy independence, but also to eliminate the pollution problems of the old BTZ plant, while improving productivity and paper quality.

The project was commissioned in 2011 and is now fully operational and performing well. The power output records: 195 kWel of electrical power generated and 1.47 kg/s at 309°C of thermal power generated.
