Biogas turbine used to produce electricity

Pavia Acque is the Sole Manager of the Integrated Water Service in the Province of Pavia. A cogeneration system with 3 Capstone CR65 turbine, grid-parallel, has been supplied. 195 kW of nominal electrical power produced, in the specific version fed by biogas from the anaerobic digestion process. The supply is completed by an integrated system for pre-treatment (dehumidification and active carbon filtration) and compression of the biogas, and a module for thermal recovery of the energy from the turbine’s exhaust gases for the production of hot water. The biogas-fuelled gas turbine is used to produce electricity for self-consumption by the Pavia wastewater treatment plant. The thermal energy of the exhausted gas from the turbine will be used for the production of hot water at 70°C and return at 50°C by means of a special thermal recovery module.
