1) What are cookies and what are their functions?
A “cookie” is a small text file that is created on the computer of the person viewing a website in order to record certain information relating to the visit, as well as to create a system for recognising the user at a later date; the cookie, in fact, can not only be created but also read and modified by the website that generated it. Basically, it is a form of virtual “memory” through which the website can recognise a specific user and associate information of various kinds and for different purposes. While browsing a website, the user may also receive cookies on his terminal that are sent by different sites or web servers (so-called “third parties”), on which some elements (such as, for example, images, maps, sounds, specific links to pages of other domains) present on the site he is visiting may reside.

2) Types of Cookies
According to Provision No. 229 of 8.5.2014, there are two macro-categories of cookies: technical and profiling cookies.

Technical Cookies
Technical cookies are those indicated in article 122, paragraph 1 of the Privacy Code, i.e. those used for the sole purpose of carrying out the transmission of a communication over a network or to the extent strictly necessary to provide a service expressly requested by the subscriber or user. Technical cookies are not used for any other purpose and are normally installed directly by the owner or manager of the website. They can be divided into navigation or session cookies, which ensure normal navigation and use of the website; analytics cookies, assimilated to technical cookies where they are used directly by the website manager to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they visit the site; functionality cookies, which allow the user to navigate according to a series of selected criteria (for example, language, products selected for purchase) in order to improve the service provided to the same.

Profiling cookies
Profiling cookies are designed to create profiles of the user and are used to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user while surfing the web. Another important distinction relates to the active party, i.e. the person who physically transmits the cookie to the user’s computer. In this perspective, there is a distinction between first-party and third-party cookies: “first-party” cookies are those transmitted directly by the operator of the website visited (defined by the Privacy Guarantor as “publisher”); “third-party” cookies, on the other hand, are those transmitted by third-party companies present on the site visited by means of special codes, which have been included in order to integrate further functionalities into the site.

3) Cookies used on this site
This site uses:

Third-party cookies related to Google Analytics
Technical cookies related to the WMPL plugin for multi-language management.

4) Modalities of Use
This website uses cookies solely to improve the user’s experience. Specifically, they are used:
WMPL plugin: set of technical cookies used for the proper functioning of the multilingual site.
Google Analytics: cookies installed to understand how users use the site in order to improve it. Aggregated data is sent to the Google Analytics platform. Once you agree to the use of cookies on this site, additional data will be sent to you, in a completely anonymous form, about your browsing preferences.

5) Users’ rights
IBT EUROPE GmbH Italian Branch, in compliance with current legislation on the guarantee and protection of personal data, pursuant to art. 122 second paragraph of Legislative Decree 169/2003 and following the simplified procedures for the provision of information and the acquisition of consent for the use of cookies, published in the Official Gazette No. 126, June 3, 2014, and its register of measures No. 229, May 8, 2014, is not obliged to ask for consent for technical cookies because they are essential to provide the services requested by the user.
